Letter to PlanItTulsa
In response to the call for citizen comments today on the feedback of the PlanItTulsa city plan, I submitted this belated email...
Dear PlanItTulsa Committee,
Please do not neuter the effectiveness of this great plan!
As a recent architecture graduate, I have long thought that Tulsa had the potential to become a truly well planned city if only given the chance. Tulsa has the best opportunity it has ever had to redirect investment and growth into areas that will drastically improve the quality of life in our city, preserve its valuable history, and improve and attract the quality of its citizens. Please don't let profit driven, short sighted developers ruin our city further. Developers in more densely populated parts of the country have had much success in embracing denser patterns of growth and mixed-use developments. Their proposed changes are thinly veiled excuses to preserve the status quo in our city, rather than challenging themselves to create a desirable product that is different from what they are used to building. The developers and homeowners who are opposed to the committee's scheme are in my opinion focused solely on their own interests, to the detriment of the community.
I may be a little late in sending you an email, but I am doing it anyway because I strongly support your vision and the plan as it was conceived after its most recent revision. I believe we can change Tulsa for the better, and I thank you for all the work you have done to get us to this point. Thank you.
